This sign perfectly illustrates the importance of what Ireland's women's football team did last week

EARLIER TODAY, IRELAND’S women’s football team played Slovakia in a friendly in Tallaght Stadium.
The girls in green beat the visitors 1-0 thanks to a penalty from Stephanie Roche, much to everyone’s delight.
The match came just one week after the team found itself in a heated dispute with the FAI following an astonishing press conference in which the players alleged they weren’t being adequately supported or compensated by the organisation.
Among other things, the team outlined how they weren’t in receipt of loss of earnings and were forced to share their kits with underage teams. Following lengthy negotiations, the issues were resolved to everyone’s satisfaction last week and the players were able to focus on what really matters – representing their country.
Rather wonderfully, there was a sizable contingent of young girls in attendance at today’s match.
Whoops!

And this sign perfectly illustrates how important the team’s fight last week was and just what it meant to young girls playing sport in Ireland.
Heroes.
